Fulton’s Crab House in Disney Springs #Orlando #FoodieReview

I finally had the chance to meet up with some local bloggers earlier this month. I follow them online and we’ve chatted in our Blogger group(s), but it was nice to finally put a face with a voice! So, shout out and THANK YOU to Meghan from Meghan on the Move for hosting this wonderful event for the Central Florida Lady Bloggers – I had a blast! We met up at Fulton’s Crab House in Downtown Disney (soon to be Disney Springs). Have you been here before?

I admittedly haven’t been to Downtown Disney in forever, but its a place I added to our “Family Bucket List” aka places I want to experience with my husband and kids, because really they don’t know about the list yet :) I don’t think the kids even know Downtown Disney exists. When they think Disney, I’m sure its Mickey Mouse and rollercoasters that come to mind, which is going to make our adventure with them so much fun because we’ll be able to share experiences such as The Blue Man Group, Disney Quest and Fulton’s Crab House.

My family LOVES seafood and if you do too, then you definitely want to make Fulton’s Crab House a MUST SEE stop on your Orlando trip! We were given the opportunity to sample some of the dishes offered on their regular menu, as well as their Mojito and 3 delicious desserts! Check out some of the dishes!

I love crab, so the Alaska King Crab (pictured center) was one of my favorites.. as it rightfully should be in a “Crab House”. I also tried the Crab Ceviche, Ahi Tuna Lettuce Cups and Shrimp Cocktail (all pictured left), along with Deviled Eggs with Smoked Trout Roe, Candied Bacon and Blue Point Oyster (all pictured right). The Crab Ceviche was delicious and tied for my favorite dish on this table!

I met the fabulous Kelly over at SeaWorld Mommy and found out she has a daily life mantra similar to mine. In a nutshell, we vow to step outside of our comfort zones daily and try something new. Trying oysters was definitely a first for the both of us!

This is my it’s slimy, not too bad, my mouth is starting to catch fire face :)

We had the extreme pleasure of meeting Chef Mark Boor in person and he showed us how to properly eat an oyster. First, you need a few things: oyster, lemon wedge and a little hot sauce. Squeeze the lemon wedge the oyster, sprinkle a little hot sauce and then tilt upward until you are able to slide it out of the shell enough to eat. I’m not keen on too much spice and anticipating a slimy texture I added a bit too much hot sauce to compensate, so be careful when adding the hot sauce! It did have a bit of a slimy texture, but it actually wasn’t bad. I would probably eat it again! A tip we learned from Chef Mark Boor is that most people trying oysters for the first time can’t get past the texture, so you can dice up a little cucumber to add in with the lemon wedge and hot sauce. The crunchiness will help with texture and make it more enjoyable! Wa-lah, You now have no reason not to try it!

Ok, so what’s the next step after trying an oyster for the first time? Trying an oyster shooter! It’s pretty much made the same way except you add in a little vodka.. um, yes please!

Next, I moved on over to the hot table and tried the Beef Tenderloin Skewers with Mojo Hazelnut Romeseo Sauce, Shrimp Scampi, Crab Cakes (Fried Green Tomatoes, Maque Choux, Remoulade) and Jambalaya. My favorite was the Beef Tenderloin Skewers with Mojo Hazelnut Romeseo Sauce! The beef was very tender and the sauce was incredible! Two of my favorite flavors are garlic (my family will tell you.. I put it in everything!) and mojo… so I already knew I was going to LOVE this dish!

Last, we tried three fun desserts. If you’ve been following my blog for anytime now you know that I am a HUGE Smores lover! So, it only seemed fitting that I head to the No Bake Smores Cheesecake table first! Ahhh, I’m in heaven.. so many Smores!

This dessert was absolutely delicious! Although I found out that this particular dessert is not on the regular menu (only one of two dishes sampled at this event that is not offered on the regular menu), it is seasonal. I do believe he said that it could be offered with a Private Dining Experience, so you may want to ask while you’re dining.

Next, was another favorite dessert of pastime. Growing up I loved key lime pie and my parents would always bring me a slice whenever they went out. I definitely enjoyed the Key Lime Torte dessert and it is offered on the regular menu!

Lastly, I tried the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie.. although it is really hard for me to choose a favorite out of the three desserts I tried, this one definitely would be on top! I found out thru talking with Chef Boor that this was actually his Grandmother’s recipe! I love that he was able to bring a family recipe, especially one as delicious as this, to the restaurant! Unfortunately, this is the second item that we sampled that is not on the regular menu. However, you can ask for this during Private Dining events. If you get the chance you NEED to try this dessert!! Yum!

I had so much fun interacting with everyone, meeting Chef Mark Boor and sampling all the delicious food at Fulton’s Crab House! If you get a chance to head to Downtown Disney, make sure you add Fulton’s Crab House to your journey – it will not disappoint!
